I had purchased it for KD when he was barely One Year Old, because I simply couldn’t resist it that time! I can’t remember the actual price and place that i purchased from, however it wasn’t too expensive!
I been taking it out on and off to read to KD when he was younger (from 1.5 years to 2.5 years), and activities i did with him with this book were picture story telling using him as the character and what he is doing every morning, followed by me demonstrating how to do each tasks.. But i had kept it and forgotten about it until recently KD took it out again on his own..
To my astonishment, he was picture story telling to me about the book and demonstrating how to perform the tasks on his own! Who says children whom do not pay attention doesn’t pick up anything? He was learning all along just that he did not display it!
Buttoning up – takes a lot off finger skills!
Putting on a belt
Connecting and pulling up the zipper
Tying Shoe Lace – To be honest, this is not something KD can do yet. But he has an idea that the lace go thru holes.. 🙂
School for KD has been as usual but he has improved today, 15 minutes before the dismissal then he started crying so loud that everyone outside can hear. Moments later, the principal opened the door and allowed him out. So far he has been having the special privilege of being the first to go home.. the moment he is outside the classroom, he is all smiley already though there were leftover tears on his face. -_-” Principal said that he cried on off after I left. :p
For the past few days KD had been refusing his lunch. It always end up with him crying and me in anger. I told myself that I can’t be beating or screaming back at him every day. So today, I tried a new approach instead of bargaining with him to finish his food then I give him whatever he wants. I brought him home immediately after class and started on activities prior to lunch! Activities that he will love and enjoy!
We did so much today! Playdoh, finger printing, painting, and a brand new activity!
Playing with Cookie Monster Playdoh
We knead, we roll and we mould! Feed them to Cookie Monster!
cut out shapes that we made
He loves painting very much!
And i really love watching him paint… so charming! LOLx
So focus and concentrating on painting
Ok, we actually did finger printing together first but it was too messy to take the pictures…
His finished artwork! LOLx
I kanna summoned yesterday! So i was inspired to recycle the coupon paper waste for “revenge”! Sigh my $$$~~~
Asking him to tear out for me.. it’s not easy ok.. this is very good for finger exercises
Tore by KD
“Trimmed” by me
Tadah! With the help of glue stick, we made this! It’s fun but not easy for both the small and big hands! really finger play!
And guess what? When we had lunch one hour later, he finished his own bowl of rice plus a chocolate bread! All on his own, without needing me to nag or battle with him at all! ❤ <3!
Tips: Many of the items that we purchased for KD are wrapped nicely in left over wrapping papers, and kept aside until we feel it’s ready to give to KD. We can’t stop ourselves from buying, neither did we want to spoil him with too much toys at one go and not learning to appreciate his toys. Thus we came up with this ingenious method, which can at the same time makes the child really very happy to receive a surprise presents for no particular reasons. 🙂
Today, I feel it’s time to give this particular present to him as I am a little tired of the other toys already (let alone him!) and I know he will not to put the dough into his mouth and thus tadah~ I presented the present to him and watch him tear it open.
It’s Playdoh Cookie Monster’s Letter Lunch Set!
I particular like this because it has the moulds of all the alphabets as well as KD loves watching Sesame Street, same as his Mommy! And guess what? I didn’t had to prepare loads of activities to entice him to sit down for half an hour today! We actually spent close to an hour just playing with this Playdoh!
Cutting, rolling, pressing, flattening, moulding, identifying and feeding Cookie Monster! Definitely a lot of finger play and fun for both him and me! I am surprised he is quite focus and attentive too!
