Parent child homework: Kyle’s first show and tell

image

Last week, Kyle came home with this parent & child’s work folder and I am supposed to guide Kyle on what he can do and actually there is really many things he can do himself! The activities that he will be most interested to show off will probably be how to play Temple Run II on the iPad or how to dance and sing to various languages of Gungnam Style. Bleah.. :p

After many careful conversations and consideration, I took out his paint brushes and ask him to select a picture of his favorite fruit (which at this point of his life happened to be Strawberries, was banana, papaya and apples previously).

So, I asked him to select the colours and paint the picture himself. 🙂

On Wednesday, when i picked him up from his school, his teacher told me that he was able to speak in front of his classmates though he was really soft.

Anyway, I am a proud mama cos it’s Kyle’s first show and tell and i think it’s fantastic job he did!

Patience is what a child & parent need

School for KD has been as usual but he has improved today, 15 minutes before the dismissal then he started crying so loud that everyone outside can hear.  Moments later, the principal opened the door and allowed him out. So far he has been having the special privilege of being the first to go home.. the moment he is outside the classroom, he is all smiley already though there were leftover tears on his face. -_-” Principal said that he cried on off after I left.  :p

For the past few days KD had been refusing his lunch.  It always end up with him crying and me in anger. I told myself that I can’t be beating or screaming back at him every day. So today, I tried a new approach instead of bargaining with him to finish his food then I give him whatever he wants. I brought him home immediately after class and started on activities prior to lunch! Activities that he will love and enjoy!

We did so much today! Playdoh, finger printing, painting,  and a brand new activity!

Tadah! With the help of glue stick, we made this! It’s fun but not easy for both the small and big hands! really finger play!

And guess what? When we had lunch one hour later,  he finished his own bowl of rice plus a chocolate bread! All on his own, without needing me to nag or battle with him at all! ❤ <3!

F is for Colorful Fish

My child, KD, really loves painting a lot! I think it’s pretty all right as long as its something he enjoys in.

It’s “F is for Fish” and we painted with watercolor today! I asked KD what colors would he like to use and he dictated using green, red, orange, blue and black (BLACK?!! I asked him not to use black this time round though..)

He could do most of the painting himself, but I still hold his hand when he is painting near borders though, helping him to paint within the lines.

And yes, now he loves Playdoh a lot too. Every day since Monday, he will ask me for Playdoh with Cookie Monster time. I kept the box high up on his cupboard and I was surprised that he could actually climbed onto a chair, onto his table, onto my table and to reach up to the box! And yes, we could easily spend 30 mins quietly sitting down with Playdoh. Money really well spent on it!

It’s E Day!

It’s “E” week this week!

As usual, KD selected his favorite way for drawing, that is painting!

We painted an elephant baby blue and he also learnt a new word called eggplant!

He really enjoys painting!

He is so focus on it!

Not too bad for a 3 year old right, at least he loves and enjoy painting! So I tried giving him a piece of blank paper and ask him to draw freehand. He doesn’t have a single idea what he would like to draw, so I asked what about a playground?

20121204-142201.jpg

He is really lost and not sure what to do next

And then he ran away!! Haha! He doesn’t have an idea of what to draw next and is lazy to think! So no choice, i wouldn’t want to stop just like that… so I had to coo him back with questions such as “Look! Is this a sun? Is this a slide? Is this a see saw etc..” With only four colours, we created this art work. But of cos!! With much help from me!!! He is not that impressive! Haha.

Let’s not be too judgemental, 🙂 what matters is he enjoys and I enjoyed too. It’s our artwork! 😀

It’s D Day!

Today is “D” day.. Not “D” as in Delivery Day or Driving Test Day. It just that we are starting on Alphabet D.

D is for durians which we been eating for the past two weekends. 😀 KD painted the durian all by himself
20121126-154149.jpg 20121126-154154.jpg

D is also for deer. And we used stickers dots (which also starts with D) that i purchased from Diaso, to decorate the deer. This is a new activity for KD! It allows KD to differentiate between smallest, small and big circle dots! He also get to do finger play to develop the fingers movement as the stickers are small, he struggled a bit before he is able to stick them on.

And remember about the sticker book that I mentioned previously that I purchased from Diaso? We had a nice “tour” covering more sections of the zoo and safari, identifying animals, categorizing them and sticking the correct animals at their respective enclosures. I am glad that one need not really bring the children to the real zoo to teach them about the animals.. It will be so tiring! But of cos the zoo is a good annual excursion which KD been twice now, once when he was one plus and another time when he was two plus. Both years, he reacted very differently when he see the animals and of cos, he changes his favorite animals too! 🙂

Fighting a not so blue Monday!

It’s because tomorrow is a holiday as well as hubby’s 35th Birthday!

Something to brighten up the Monday!

So how we started today?

A very quick recapped on what’s for Alphabet A and B then we move on to Letter C! C is for Carrot and Crab! Kyle (KD) loves painting very much..Don’t he look like a lil Picasso?  i also cut out some stripes patterns on a carrot for him to do stamping on his finished art works.

As the weather forecast said it’s not going to rain in the next two hours, i quickly scambled to get KD out of the house for a farm visit to Qian Hu Fish Farm!

Where: 71 Jalan Lekar  Singapore 698950 (near Choa Chu Kang).
Opening Hours: Mon-Thur 9am to 6pm, Fri-Sun & Public Holidays 9am to 7pm.
How to get There: If you are not driving, they do provide free shuttle buses from CCK MRT Station, so you are keen, you can take a look at here for more information. 🙂

What to do there:
1) Fishes viewing!
2) Fish Spas
3) Your kids will surely love the Longgang Fishing which costs $6 for 30 mins (inclusive of a tank for you to bring home the fish and a free loan of net).
4) You can also buy packet food from them to feed the fishes or tortoises at $1 each.

Beware, the longgang fishing is tough cos the fishes are a lot more agile than the 3 YO toddler and a preggie mom! We spent 15 mins and finally caught 2 fishes.. luckily in the end we caught a total of 6 fishes in 30 mins! so $6 for 6 fishes.. not too bad eh? 🙂

And here is to share a video of KD when he was feeding the very hungry Koi!
