It’s D Day!

Today is “D” day.. Not “D” as in Delivery Day or Driving Test Day. It just that we are starting on Alphabet D.

D is for durians which we been eating for the past two weekends. 😀 KD painted the durian all by himself

D is also for deer. And we used stickers dots (which also starts with D) that i purchased from Diaso, to decorate the deer. This is a new activity for KD! It allows KD to differentiate between smallest, small and big circle dots! He also get to do finger play to develop the fingers movement as the stickers are small, he struggled a bit before he is able to stick them on.

And remember about the sticker book that I mentioned previously that I purchased from Diaso? We had a nice “tour” covering more sections of the zoo and safari, identifying animals, categorizing them and sticking the correct animals at their respective enclosures. I am glad that one need not really bring the children to the real zoo to teach them about the animals.. It will be so tiring! But of cos the zoo is a good annual excursion which KD been twice now, once when he was one plus and another time when he was two plus. Both years, he reacted very differently when he see the animals and of cos, he changes his favorite animals too! 🙂

Hands on Fun

When we heard that kids have really short attention span, it’s really really true! There is no way I can make KD sit down with me for even 10 mins, unless I really have multiple interesting activities and much coaxing!

So, I decided to be hands on today! We started off with writing alphabet A first. (which is his most hated activity – writing and thus I had to start of with this so that I can entice him with other activities that follow!)

Next, as strongly requested by KD, we built blocks into a “really really high” tower and “really really long” train. (That’s the exact descriptions that KD is using nowadays)

Followed by art and craft! I bought this tear out book from Bras Brasah Complex (书城) that has interesting cut-out patterns that are very easy to tear out and with a glue and folding, you can make interesting objects such as farm animals, army vehicles, vehicles and etc. Of course I choose the vehicles set for KD, it costs S$7.60 and I feel it’s worth it! All we need is a pair of kids safe scissors (to trim off those sides that mommy didn’t tear properly) and glue! (In this case, we use the tape glue thus it’s not so messy)

And so a police car is completed!

After we built the Police Car, the next activity is from this very interesting zoo sticker book that I bought from Diaso! It contains a few pages of Zoo scenes and has two pages full of stickers. I asked KD to identify which animal stickers should go to which animal enclosures found on the pages. He did very well for giraffes, panda, hippos and elephant! (we only did 4 animals today actually)

Can you believe that I did the above with KD within half hour?

But of course, the most amazing thing today is…. he actually helped me to tidy up the table and chairs! Ain’t I a very proud Mommy!!

And of course after lunch will be exercise time and we did football today! Geez! I am one tired mommy!

Tips: A visit to Diaso can be very rewarding! There are tons of things we can find that is useful to engage a child! I bought the $2 bowling pins, golf set, stickers books, paint brushes, art paper and many more! Do visit them for inspirations that doesn’t hurt your wallet!
